Business Communications Project Management

All our business communications projects are guided by the discipline of project management.

Adhering to tried and true project management principles and techniques helps projects complete on schedule and on budget without sacrificing scope or compromising quality. We assemble our project teams to meet the specific requirements of your project, drawing on a resource pool of professionally associated colleagues nationwide who work flawlessly within the classic project management paradigm.

Our project management approach consists of the following steps:

  1. Defining the scope
  2. Planning and scheduling the project
  3. Implementing the project
  4. Evaluating objectives.

Many of our documentation or marketing projects are integrated into a client's hardware or software product life cycle, usually earlier rather than later because our participation extends across several phases.

Defining the scope

Our work begins by defining project scope, the single most important step in managing a project. We coordinate with your team to identify objectives and requirements, and to specify project deliverables. We also identify constraints and assumptions, including any risk factors that could affect budget and schedule.

Scheduling the project

After scope has been defined, we devise a workable plan to accomplish the objectives and deliverables of the project. We liaise with your team to assign responsibilities, then develop a preliminary schedule.

Implementing the project

After the project plan, budget and schedule have been reviewed and agreed upon, we begin the implementation phase. During project execution we submit regular status reports and, from time to time, work-in-progress to your subject matter experts for informal review. In addition, we typically schedule two formal reviews before final delivery. Gantt or milestone charts can also be provided, as required.

These submissions allow you (and us) to monitor and control the project and to take any corrective measures needed to keep the project on track.

Evaluating objectives

As a final step, we conduct an evaluation to determine that project objectives have been met.
